My favourite is a coat rack for our front enterence. Here are some pictures..and also some other ides i thought were neat as well!...enjoy!!

I came across these items at a second hand store..and i plan on getting a bunch more!..they look real nice clusterd together, and all different sizes as well. The lamp i found as well..it needed a bit of tlc, and the lampshade was found at our local market here in Meaford. Rustic charm!

My favourite thing about decorating my own house, or someone elses is finding things in your own backyard!..I love bringing the outdoors in! You would be amazed at what you will find around your own property , or just going for a stroll. People may look confused when you walk down the street with a beautiful  piece of driftwood, or some logs! but it dosn't matter, when you see something and it catches your eye..you need to have it!..at least i do. Some of the things i have been working on for my living room are brought in from our local Bay, an even a wood pile...take a look tell me what you think!..just a hint..if you decide to use outdoor wood..make sure you leave it in the sun to dry out completley!...no bugs in my house!!

Lest we forget

Being a wife of a military man, November 11 hits a bit closer to home. Although I was not dating him when he was overseas, I still am in awe at how strong and courageous he was and is! I watch him leave every morning wearing his combats, and although he is just heading to work, it's just an average day for him. He does his routines and i try to help him in that as much as i can..lol..so on remembrance day, take the time to think and remember those lost in battle, and those who are still in the forces today!. In remembering their service and their sacrifice, we recognize the tradition of freedom they fought to preserve. These men and women had faith in the future and by their acts gave us the will to preserve peace for all time. On Remembrance Day, we acknowledge the courage of those who served their country.

The big apple!

So, on this rainy morning i find myself searching for new ideas for my house, and for others. It's the perfect day to do some work on the house. Our town Meaford is known as "the other big apple", obviously not as fabulous as the real big apple, but it has its perks, it's refered to the "other big apple" becuase of it's endless feilds of apple orchards, the festivals around here are wonderful!, and it seems everyone is selling apples! Something i find very neat is the way the apple crates are used for design purposes now, shelving, benches, ect...it's so cool!..and so inexpensive..i'm hoping to get my hands on a few..hoping!...i know they are in strong demend these days..but i will keep my eyes open.

It's an oar-deal!

To paint or not to paint?..so far my nautical theme living space is working out very nicely, I have been able to find great deals on pillows, paint, and other great things to display! I recently bought an old pair of wooden oars at a local antique market. My first thought was to just leave them in their natural state(which is rustic looking)..but I did some research and now I may want to paint them a bit. This is all in due time!...but here is a picture, i love the bright, clean look of this room, and the oars on the wall really pull it together! has a "cottage like" feel..love it!

My obsession with throw pillows

Well it's true!..i love them!..can't get enough of them. I found the nautical pillows at a bargain store, and i new i had to have them...hee hee. I think pillows add so much to a room, and when they are a cheap as $5 bucks, its really a steal! I know there will be a lot more were this came from!

two old chairs

Todays find...made in indonesia!...I was pretty excited..cant wait to find pillows for them. They look great against my navy blue wall!

Five doller find

So, I was out discovering our new little town, as most of you know, i recently moved here to Meaford, on with my new hubby, and we LOVE it here! Although Matt has been here numerous times, because of the military, i however was brand new!so i spent a lot of my free time driving around and discovering new and fun sites. I decided to stop at a yardsale(who dosnt love those) and my eye caught a table buried under all sorts of stuff, it was a steal of a deal!. I spent a lot of time sanding and making it shine. Today my "baby" sits in our living room, and i must say it looks good. Matt was pretty proud of his new wife and her find!

Artful Eye!

The Artful Eye is a blog i decided to start, for family friends, and anyone who wants to check it out! I wanted to start something that people can come and check out neat ideas , great finds, wondeful antiques, and some design ideas that may inspire you. I am always on the prowl for neat/ antique finds to decorate my own house or someone elses. The name Artful Eye, I chose this for my blog simply for my Dad, the man with the eye for all finds. Growing up it wasnt unusual for him to come home with some sort of find, whether it be antique or not!, and i am proud to say that i follow in his footsteps. I hope you enjoy !
